Ted van Arkel appointed to Abano board
New directorship for Restaurant Brands chairman.
Listed healthcare company Abano Healthcare Group (NZX:ABA) has appointed professional director Ted van Arkel to its board.
In addition to being chairman of Restaurant Brands NZ and Charlie's Group, Mr van Arkel is also a director of a number of public and private companies which include The Warehouse, Allied Work Force, Danske Mobler and La Grouw Corporation.
Prior to becoming a professional director, he was managing director of supermarket giant Progressive Enterprises. He retired from that company at the end of 2004 after the integration of Woolworths (NZ) Limited.
He is also the chairman of Unitec NZ and Health Benefits (which helps District Health Boards find cost savings) as well as a director of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.
Abano chairwoman Alison Paterson, said: "We are pleased to welcome Ted to the Board. He has a depth and breadth of retail and governance experience and expertise which will be of value to Abano as the company continues to expand, both in New Zealand and internationally."
