Telecom is seeking trialists for an on-demand gaming service called Aircade

Telecom Digital Ventures, the Telecom innovation and incubator unit, has completed internal technical tests on Aircade, a cloud-based platform that allows users to access and play quality video games anywhere, anytime, similar to streaming services like Spotify or Netflix, the company says.

A public trial is now open for registration as Telecom Digital Ventures looks to New Zealanders of all ages to help put the service through its paces and provide feedback on the experience.

If the trial is successful, Aircade could revolutionise gaming for price-conscious players and button-bashing families who want to enjoy quality titles without spending hundreds of dollars, or even thousands, on a high-end console or gaming rig, Telecom says.

In fact all trialists need to get into the game is a PC or Mac, and a good broadband connection with plenty of data on tap.
