Telecom sneaks in quarterly update

Conference call to focus on connection numbers.

Telecom is sticking to its new six-monthly reporting, but will have a third quarter update investor call, "led" by chief executive Paul Reynolds, this Friday at 10am.

The conference call will "look at some of the key performance indicators for the last quarter (Q3). It will not contain any financial performance information, but update investors on certain non-financial measures such as connection numbers," a company spokesman said this morning.

Telecom's full-year result is expected in August.

Given the extra-ordinary third quarter update, it could be inferred that connection numbers are higher, or lower, than anticipated.

Or it could just mean a new regime of mini-updates.

Either way, NBR will live-blog the conference call Friday.

Telecom shares (NZX: TEL) closed down 1.5c yesterday to $2.155.
