Tainui Group Holdings (TGH) today announced the appointment of Lyndon Settle to the role of General Manager Strategy and Finance.

TGH Chief Executive Chris Joblin says Mr Settle brings a strong knowledge of business investment and finance, wealth generation and the agribusiness sector as Tainui Group Holdings pursues its diversification strategy on behalf of Waikato-Tainui.

“Lyndon’s broad experience in commercial development, along with his in-depth knowledge of the Waikato region and experience in working with Iwi partners, is a great fit for TGH as we reposition our portfolio to build on and move beyond our strengths in property into a diversified range of investments. Being born and bred in Matamata – he knows what makes the Waikato tick,” Mr Joblin says.

Lyndon Settle has been Managing Partner of BNZ Partners Auckland since 2011, and held the equivalent role at BNZ Partners in the Waikato prior to that (from 2008). Before joining BNZ, Lyndon was a Director for Rabobank New Zealand's corporate and institutional division. He has also held corporate banking roles for global banks in Australia, UK and Germany. He holds a Masters degree in Applied Finance from Melbourne University, coupled with a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Bachelor of Business, both from Massey University.

Mr Settle says he is looking forward to returning to the Waikato Region, and is optimistic about the prospects for the investments of Waikato-Tainui and the region.

“TGH has an exciting range of projects on the go and many more planned for the years ahead to grow the long-term prosperity of Waikato-Tainui. Whether it is the extensive farming operations that TGH manages on behalf of the tribe, or getting the inland port at Ruakura up and running over the next 18 months, I look forward to rolling up my sleeves to understand and drive the business benefits for Waikato-Tainui and the region,” Mr Settle says.

Mr Settle’s start date with TGH is subject to final confirmation, but will be no later than 25 July.
