The lighter side of the bin Laden operation

The internet provides a little gallows humour.

Wed, 04 May 2011

The shooting of Osama Bin Laden raisde a complex series of geopolitical issues, and put much of the world on edge.

But, as ever, the internet has offered a little gallows humour to cut through the tension.

Take this photo, which purports to prove President Obama was responsible for the al Qaeda leader's death:

It's a zoom-in - with a little creative editing - on the now famous/infamous official Whitehouse situation room still of the president, vice president, secretary of state and others watching the operation unfold live:

And here's a royal wedding take, via puditkitchen.com:

Incidentally, if you're interested in photos of the media circus outside bin Laden's compound, and scenes of day-to-day life in Abbottabad, follow Sohaib Athar (aka @ReallyVirtual) the IT consultant who unwittingly live-tweeted the official Navy Seals attack, and who has continued his amateur coverage.
