Giving away less than 1% of net worth ‘not serious’: Sam Morgan

Morgan is on a mission to convert wealthy people to philanthropy, having deployed $162m to date to social entrepreneurs.

Trade Me founder Sam Morgan has deployed $162 million to social entrepreneurs but says he’s not had a lot of success convincing wealthy people to get into philanthropy.

“Most giving is ineffectual if you actually measure anything – which explains why most people don’t!” he says.

Morgan turned to philanthropy after reaping a total $277m
