The Palms Shopping Centre appoints new marketing manager

The Palms Shopping Centre has appointed local Canterbury woman Laura Jones to join the role of marketing manager within the centre management team.

With an extensive background and interest in retail, a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and previous experience in shopping centre marketing, Ms Jones has spent a lot of time in and around The Palms over the years and is thrilled to be able to bring her experience and personal flare to the role.

“I have a sentimental relationship with this shopping centre – I grew up in the area and distinctly remember when it was renamed The Palms. As a child I shopped here with my family, through my high school years I worked in-centre on school holiday promotions, wrapped presents during the Christmas season and, when I was studying at University, I worked part-time at a retailer within the centre.”

As a born and bred Cantabrian, Ms Jones is looking forward to taking on the challenge of implementing campaigns that appeal to and have a strong connection with the local community.

“I have a wealth of knowledge about the local area and a vested interest in and pride for The Palms through its leadership during the city’s rebuild. This is truly an exciting time for Christchurch.

“The retail environment is always changing and my biggest goal is to continue to exceed our valued customers’ expectations. Since joining The Palms’ management team, I’ve already discovered that there is a real sense of community amongst the centre’s staff and visitors – there is a unique family-offering here from the great selection of dining options to the Reading Cinema. I cannot wait to get involved with more of the local activity going on within Christchurch.”

Ms Jones attended St. Andrew’s College and received a commerce degree with a double major in marketing and human resource management from the University of Canterbury.
