Wellington investor Craig Thompson has sold up his remaining shares and retired from the board of Accent Group, the footware business he co-founded in 1988.
His exit opened the door for Brett Blundy, founder of Brazin and BB Retail Capital, to gain a near 20% stake in the ASX-listed company.
Thompson’s retirement offers time to consider new investments for the former Brierley executive who has dabbled in everything from retailing to insurance, finance, retirement villages and the media.
As one of the original directors of MediaWorks when it was publicly listed, Thompson also co-founded the More FM Network and he profited from the 2014 sale of the global NRS Media sales business, which he formed in partnership with fellow Wellingtonians Doug Gold and Mike Brunel.
Previous successful investments have included the sale of his 55% stake in the fledgling Summerset retirement business in 2006, and Thompson still holds a 33% stake in the CurtainStudio business, which he founded in 2005.
