American communications giant AT&T has joined a growing list of companies to drop their sponsorship of golfer Tiger Woods because of his infidelities.
"We are ending our sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods and wish him well in the future," AT&T said in a terse statement.
AT&T's multi-year endorsement deal with Woods included having its corporate logo appear on his golf bag. He did not appear in AT&T ads.
The company said it would continue to sponsor the AT&T National, a PGA Tour golf tournament in July that has been hosted by Woods and benefits his foundation.
"We look forward to a successful 2010 tournament," the company said.
The revelations about Woods' personal life have created a public relations nightmare for companies that paid millions of dollars to hitch their brands to Woods.
The golfer earns roughly $US90 million a year from his endorsement pacts but until his self-imposed suspension from playing has temporarily ended a career estimated at being worth more than a billion dollars.
Each company has handled the situation differently, though. Accenture, the global consulting firm, earlier this month terminated its six-year sponsorship deal.
Woods was the centerpiece of the company's marketing and advertising programme and appeared in most of its ads.
Nike has said it will stand by Woods, while Procter & Gamble.'s Gillette division has limited Woods' role in its marketing programs.
Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer said it would stand by Woods but has scaled back ads in the US.
