Northland sand supply company Tomarata Sand has applied for Commerce Commission clearance to acquire Coastal Resources.
Tomarata Sand, a recently formed company, is owned by Stan Semenoff who also has interests in a number of Northland sand companies including Semenoff Sand Supplies Limited and Envirosands Northland Limited.
Coastal Resources Limited is based in Northland and also supplies sand, the commission said.
The commission will determine whether the acquisition would substantially lessen competition in the market.
