Senior executives from the nation's rural-based industries will compete for an agribusiness title at Federated Farmers' national conference in Invercargill on Thursday.
Contestants include Fonterra chief executive Andrew Ferrier, Massey University's associate professor in farm and agribusiness management Nicola Shadbolt, managing director of CRS software Brian Eccles, Anzco Foods chairman Graeme Harrison, Hawke's Bay brothers David and Jonathan Brownrigg from Brownrigg Agriculture and Farmworks Precision Farming Systems managing director Colin McFadzen.
There will also be presentations to dairy award winners for farm manager of the year, sharemilker of the year and dairy trainee of the year, young farmer of the year, enterprising rural women award winner and the 2009 and 2010 winners of the Ahuwhenua Trophy for Maori excellence in farming.
Federated Farmers chief executive Conor English said the night would celebrate the "fantastic talent" the sector had to offer.
