Tourism Holdings Ltd said someone has been sending letters to its shareholders offering to pay money for an option to buy the company's shares.
The company put out a brief statement on NZX to keep shareholders informed but said it has no meaningful information about the approach.
The letter from an unknown accounting firm appeared uninformed and had been sent to institutional and large individual shareholders.
"We don't know what it is but given they have sent letters to shareholders it is the right thing for us to do to release something," said chief executive Grant Webster.
