Air New Zealand advises travellers to check with US airlines for updates as carriers cancel thousands of flights.
New Zealanders travelling to the United States face delays as domestic airlines cancel thousands of flights in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, which is making its way up the country's east coast.
Air New Zealand does not fly beyond America's west coast and its direct flights are operating as usual.
However, it "advises passengers who have booked onward travel within the United States to contact their carrier directly for the latest flight information".
The storm, which has already killed more than 65 people in the Caribbean, threatens to bring air travel in the Northeast to a halt for at least two days.
Airlines have already cancelled more than 4700 flights due to depart before tomorrow, on the eve of the expected landfall of Hurricane Sandy on Tuesday evening (NZ time), the Wall Street Journal reports.
Many of the flight cancellations are due to airport closures in New Jersey, New York and Washington DC, but more airports are expected to be closed as the storm moves north.
