Treasury is casting its net far and wide in the search for a new deputy secretary.

International perspective is a requirement for the role in the government department, in charge of the country’s books.

The deputy secretary role provides “strategic leadership” to the Treasury on broad economic policy issues.

More specifically, that includes fiscal and monetary policy strategy and settings and New Zealand’s international linkages

The man currently in the role, Struan Little, has been made deputy commissioner of Inland Revenue.
