A trial date has been set in October for four directors of failed finance company group Five Star.
Marcus MacDonald, Anthony Bowden, Nicholas Kirk and Neill Williams face charges laid by the Companies Office under the Securities Act and the Financial Reporting Act.
All four were excused from attending Auckland District Court today on charges relating to false and misleading statements contained in investment statements and the September 2006 registered prospectus.
Judge Eddie Paul made an order for the Crown to file and serve expert evidence by July 30. He also set a trial date of October 26, and adjourned the case until June 22 for a call-over. A second call-over was set down for October 12.
He also requested a trial by judge alone.
All four were remanded on bail and were excused from their next court appearance on June 22.
Five Star Consumer Finance Ltd was put into receivership in August 2007 and shortly after various related companies, including Five Star Finance Ltd and Five Debenture Nominee Ltd, also failed.
