Twitter announces today further growth to its Australian team with the appointments of Jonathan Harley (@jharleyaus) as Director of Media Partnerships for Australia, Luke Hopewell (@lukehopewell) as Moments Lead, and Jenny Goodridge (@JennyGoodridge) as Head of Business Development and Platform Partnerships for Australia and New Zealand.
As Director of Media Partnerships, Jonathan will lead Twitter’s Australian Media team to shape strategy around how audiences engage with Twitter both on and off the platform. He will also lead Twitter’s working with media companies and high-profile users across news, sports, politics, entertainment and music to help forge distribution partnerships that deliver the best content to Twitter users.
Jonathan brings to Twitter extensive experience in news and current affairs. He joins Twitter from the Nine Network Australia where he was Supervising Producer at 60 Minutes for almost four years where his role included overseeing the establishment of 60 Minutes’ digital and social media presence. Jonathan has also previously held senior roles at the ABC and Shine Australia.
Luke Hopewell will lead the establishment and rollout of Twitter’s new Moments feature in Australia. Luke will oversee the appointment and training of an editorial curation team with the remit to utilise Moments to increase the reach of publishers’ content on Twitter. Once launched, the Moments team will identify and curate the best Tweets, photos, Vines and videos around the biggest real-world events and high profile opportunities in Australia to allow users to catch up easily and instantly.
Luke joins Twitter from Gizmodo Australia, where he held the Editor position for over three years. Through his position at Gizmodo Australia, and previous roles with Business Insider, CBS Interactive and other freelance roles, Luke brings a raft of skills and experience to Twitter, including online news-gathering, content management and team building. He has also appeared countless times as an online expert for Network Ten, the ABC, SBS and Seven; and on radio for the ABC, 2UE and the Austereo network.
As Head of Business Development and Platform Partnerships for Australia and New Zealand, Jenny will focus on driving revenue, user growth and engagement through strategic partnerships and programs. She will also be responsible for increasing adoption of Fabric, Twitter’s modular app development platform that helps developers build the best apps.
Jenny joins Twitter from Samsung where she led product and consumer marketing teams in the mobile division and the cross business content and services team. She brings with her extensive experience in commercial partnerships, business development, app development and marketing.
