Mark Verbiest has resigned as a director of AMP NZ Office Ltd (ANZO) (NZX: ANO). In an announcement to the NZX, ANZO said the resignation would take effect from the end November 2011 and arises "due to his desire to devote the necessary time and energy to his prospective new role as chairman of Telecom".

The new role is conditional on the Telecom shareholders sanctioning the Telecom demerger .

Telecom yesterday announced a proposed series of board changes if shareholders and debtholders approved a company split. One condition of Telecom's Crown fibre contract is that Telecom's Chorus division must be separated out.

Fomer corporate lawyer Mr Verbiest's replacement of current, long-time, chairman Wayne Boyd was one of the major changes.

Mr Verbiest has been involved with ANZO since 2008. He was appointed an ANZO director by Haumi, ANZO’s largest shareholder, who own more than 15% of ANZO shares and are therefore entitled to appoint a director.
