New exec gave Telecom the bashing during XT outage.
Mike Davies is joining 2degrees as its new chief technology officer (CTO), replacing Mike Goss who leaves at the end of the year.
Mr Davies raised industry eyebrows during Telecom's bungled XT launch in early 2010 when, as Vodafone general manager for network services, he circulated a "BBQ talking points" memo on XT network issues that people might want to raise with friends, family and others.
He left the company in March that year.
Ironically, Mr Davies took a position with Alcatel-Lucent - Telecom's main mobile network partner - where he became recovery director for Asia Pacific.
He starts with 2degrees on December 10.
