Manurewa is held by former minister George Hawkins, who is retiring at the next election.
Ms Wall was chosen after a selection meeting in the electorate that lasted more than eight hours yesterday.
She beat Ashraf Choudhary, a sitting list MP, local lawyer Ian Dunwoodie, union organiser Jerome Mika, local lawyer Amelia Schaaf, human resources manager Shane Te Pou and company director Raj Thandi who all put their names forward.
