The job: a financial analyst

The profile: 6 years experience in commercial and business analytical roles (3 to 4 in their current role), experience in a wide range of operational and financial analysis work including monthly board reporting, variance analysis and commentary, and responsible for a junior analyst.

The salary: Between $85,000 to $100,000. Alexander James managing director Tim Slyfield said this amount could vary according to additional factors such as the company's internal and external stakeholders, the level of financial analysis being done, the effect of this analysis on the business and the person's position within the company.

The upgrade: Mr Slyfield said people with this type of financial analysis experience often moved into commercial management roles. The salary level of a commercial manager is between $115,000 and $150,000.
