The Job: A financial analyst.

The Profile: Around six years of experience in commercial and business analytical roles, experience in a wide variety of financial analysis and operational work including monthly board reporting, variance analysis and commentary, while also holding the responsibility of mentoring a junior analyst on the team.

The Salary: A salary of between $85,000 and $100,000 would be an average estimate for this type of position. Managing director of Alexander James, Tim Slyfield, said the average salary amount would vary greatly according to various additional factors including the level of financial analysis being done within the company, internal and external stakeholders, the effect of financial analysis on the business and the person’s position within the company itself.

The Upgrade: Mr Slyfield mentioned that people who have attained a financial analyst role within a company often moved up into higher commercial management roles, with the salary of such a role ranging anywhere between $115,000 and $150,000.
