Australia's business council wants to talk to Príme Minister John Key about bringing the transTasman economies closer.

Business Council of Australia spokesman Scott Thompson told NBR ON LINE Mr Key's Australian visit later this week will provide a good opportunity to discuss issues relating to both economies, including how the two countries can work together for mutual benefit.

Mr Key will visit banks, business groups and major corporates in Sydney and Melbourne.

He will talk to the Trans-Tasman Business Circle before giving this year's John Howard Lecture on issues affecting Australia – from a New Zealand perspective.

Mr Key will also meet with staff from the four major banks, which all have subsidiaries in New Zealand, and talk with business groups operating in both New Zealand and Australia.
