Whybin/TBWA has appointed Jodi Willocks to lead the ANZ Bank account.

Ms Willocks came to the agency after maternity leave, and had previously worked as an account director at Meares Taine and then as a group account director at Ogilvy Wellington, where she was part of the senior management team, the agency said.

She had considerable international experience, it said, having worked as marketing manager for HSBC Bank in London and living and studying for a number of years in the Middle East.

As group head she would be the new lead of the ANZ Bank account, replacing Anita Waugh, who was hired in February to look after a group of accounts, TBWA/Group of Companies chief executive David Walden said.

Ms Waugh handled the TBWA take over of the ANZ account after the Rugby World Cup, despite the agency being appointed to the business in Australia, New Zealand and Asia previously, due to the bank being a major sponsor of the RWC and being involved with DDB, Mr Walden said.

"So we put Anita on it but always with a view that we were going to find and hire someone who'd had direct experience, ideally, of running a bank and so we've been looking for someone during that time and Anita's been kind of a place holder for us."

Mr Walden said Meares Taine was a creatively focused agency and that was the kind of environment at Whybin/TBWA.

"So we think Jodi is going to fit right in so we're really thrilled to have her here.  She started a couple of days ago and we're loving it."

Ms Willocks said returning to agency life work after a break meant she wanted to make the right choice.

"Devo, Andy Blood and the rest of the team have an enviable record in supporting some of New Zealand’s top companies, so after meeting with them it was actually pretty easy -
I’m looking forward to adding value to both the agency and to ANZ Bank."
