Winery deals to US, Chinese interests

42.03% of the shares in Trinity Hill winery, which will take its ownership to 67%.

“The applicant’s increased shareholding in Trinity Hill will ensure a continuation of North American sales and distribution contacts,” the Overseas Investment Offic decision comments.

Trinity Hill owns land in the Gimblett Rd area of Hawke’s Bay.

The deal will benefit New Zealand through increased export receipts and improved walking access, the OIO says.

Xindongyue Group NZ, owned by Chinese interests has acquired 8ha at 35c Wallace Drive, Clarks Beach, Waiau Pa, Auckland for $2.9 million. The seller is Anne Martin.

Xindongyue Group is acquiring the boutique winery and accommodation business to export wine to China, using the vineyard’s own grapes and locally sourced grapes and bottled wine.
