Prices of most wool types eased at today's combined auction of North and South Island wool in Napier and Christchurch.
New Zealand Wool Services International reported 81 percent of approximately 19,000 bales on offer sold, and that in the South Island a very limited selection of mid-micron fleece resisted the trend, rising in price by 2 percent.
Prices for fine crossbred fleece and shears slipped back by 1.5 to 2.5 percent.
Coarse fleece generally fell 1 percent to 2 percent in price from last week, with the exception of a small selection in the North Island, which remained firm.
Coarse early shorn and second shears also remained firm, and some rose in price by as much as 1.5 percent.
Prices for lambs' fleece fell as much as 2 percent, as did oddments.
The main buyer interest today was from Australasian carpet mills, China, India and the United Kingdom, with support from Western Europe and the Middle East.
There is no sale next week, and the next rostered wool auction will be a combined sale of North and South Island wool on April 22, offering approximately 12,000 bales in Napier and 14,000 bales in Christchurch.
