Worldwide Twitter outage coincides with cofounder's visit downunder

Twitter suffered technical problems for about an hour from 2.48pm this afternoon, taking the social network offline in multiple countries. As of 4pm, performance was still slow and erratic for Australian and New Zealand users.
The outage came on the heels of Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey visiting the company's new office in Sydney, and meeting with Twitter Australia-New Zealand managing director Karen Stocks.
Mr Dorsey been in Australia for several days, primarily to push the local launch of his second company, digital payments service Square.
Twitter, which claims more than 300 million users worldwide, has yet to give a reason for the outage.
