10 million Kinect sensors and games have been sold worldwide and Guinness World Records has named Kinect the fastest selling consumer electronics device.
Kinect for Xbox 360 has sold 10 million sensors and more than 10 million standalone games worldwide, the company announced today in a press release.
The sales follow what Xbox 360 called "one of the biggest launches in consumer electronics history" and has helped the device grab Guinness World Records; 'fastest selling consumer electronics device' title. It sold an average of 133,333 units per day for a total of eight million in its first 60 days (November 4, 2010 to January 3, 2011), something the gaming editor for Guinness World Records, Gaz Deaves, said was an "incredible achievement."
"The sales figures speak for themselves. Acoording to independent research, no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span".
Director of Xbox Australia and New Zealand, David McLean, said the company was thrilled with Kinect's success and proud to be recognised by the Guinness World Records.
"Kinect has revolutionised entertaiment and these numbers tell us that all over the world, including Australia and New Zealand, people are embracing that revolution."
