Like Telecom, 2degrees has no contract with Apple (only Vodafone NZ can call itself an official Apple carrier in these parts, and sell devices bundled with plans).

Heck, 2degrees doesn't even have a 3G network yet (although, if speed's not super-important, an iPhone will run quite happily on the telco's 2G network, a so-so data price of $6 per 50MB).

But, like Telecom, that hasn't stopped 2degrees from hatching plans to release a Micro-SIM card –a new, mini size SIM that, so far, only fits two devices: Apple's iPhone 4 and iPad 3G.

A rep for 2degrees confirmed Twitter rumours that the telco is testing a Micro-SIM on its 3G network (due to go live sometime before the end of the year), using an iPad 3G.

2degrees also confirmed it will release its own Micro-SIM. But on what date, and at what price, are still to be finalised.

Apple has repeatedly declined to comment on Telecom's various attempts at guerrilla marketing the iPhone, and otherwise undermining its official arrangement with Vodafone.
