3News poll has Little making a splash

A boost, of sorts, for the new Labour leader | UPDATED with full poll results.

  • National – 49.8%, up 2.8% on election night result
  • Labour – 29.1%, up 4% on election night result
  • Green – 9.3%, down 1.4%
  • New Zealand First – 6.9 %, down 1.9%
  • Conservative – 2.7%, down 1.3%
  • Maori – 1.3%, N/C
  • Internet Mana – 0.6%, down 0.8%
  • ACT – 0.4%, down 0.3%
  • United Future – 0%, down 0.2%

Seats in house:

  • National – 62
  • Maori – 2
  • Act – 1
  • United Future – 1

Govt total: 66

  • Labour – 36
  • Green – 12
  • New Zealand First – 8

Preferred Prime Minister:

  • John Key – 44%, up 3.9%

  • John Key – 81% say yes

EARLIER: After two months as leader, Andrew Little is showing potential, according to a 3 News-Reid Research poll.

The survey finds 55% of voters think Little is potentially a better match for Prime Minister John Key — a result that outshines every leader since Helen Clark.

The full results, including details on how the parties stand and what's happened to the minor parties, will be released tonight on 3 News at 6pm.

Although a number of pundits have given Little credit for his assertive style, polls have yet to show him making an impact on the public.

A Roy Morgan survey released January 23 had National surging 6% to 52%, Labour down 1% to 26%, the Greens 11% and NZ First is down 1% to 6%, with others under 2%.
