A heir emerges to Ralph Norris' mantle as the highest-earning expat.
Who's the highest earning expatriate?
Previously, this was an easy question.
CBA boss Ralph Norris, with his compensation that peaked at $A16 million.
But with Sir Ralph retiring from the bank in November*, CFO supremo Chris Liddell (Microsoft, GM) between assignements and NBR (cough) unable to ascertain the paypacket of Blackburn Rovers captain Ryan Nelson, who is poised to take on the mantle of Highest Earning Kiwi Salaryman?
One candidate has to be Telstra boss David Thodey (brother of former BNZ chief executive Peter Thodey) has to be a candidate.
Telstra yesterday revealed Mr Thodey enjoyed a 60% jump in remuneration during the company's 2011 financial year, from $A3.1 million to $A5.1 million (including bonuses).
Not a bad result given Telstra reported a 17.5% drop in net profit.
* Sir Ralph's replacement at CBA - Ian Narev, another Kiwi - will have a salary of $A2.5 million and be eligible for a short term incentive of up to $A2.5 million and a long term incentive of up to $A2.5 million.
