Air New Zealand is expanding its options into the Middle East by signing up for a code share agreement with United Arab Emirates carrier Etihad Airways.
The agreement will provide Air New Zealand customers with flight options to and from the Middle East.
Air New Zealand will code share on Etihad services between Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Abu Dhabi and between Abu Dhabi and Heathrow. Meanwhile, Etihad Airways will code share on Air New Zealand trans-Tasman and domestic flights.
Air New Zealand’s loyalty programme Airpoints – and Etihad's loyalty scheme – will be integrated.
Code share flights will be on sale from the end of the month for travel from late March pending necessary government approvals.
Etihad operates about 147 daily flights to 64 destinations in 42 countries via 57 aircraft. In 2009 its revenue reached $US2.3 billion.
