Alistair Wilkinson to join TVNZ as executive producer for Seven Sharp

Former TV3 and 60 Minutes journalist Alistair Wilkinson is joining TVNZ as the new executive producer for Seven Sharp.

Alistair has more than twenty years’ experience in television news and current affairs. He has worked as a reporter, producer, newsreader, and newsroom manager both here and in Australia.

Alistair has spent the last nine months as Head of News at Local Focus - a video journalism project funded by New Zealand on Air. Prior to that he was the NZ News Director for Sky News.

“Alistair is a journalist’s journalist with a sharp eye for a really good story. He’s also a highly experienced and talented producer with the leadership skills and drive needed to take on one of the most challenging jobs in TV,” says John Gillespie, TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs.

Alistair says he's looking forward to working with Mike, Toni and the team to develop the show which attracts an average audience of more than 400,000 New Zealand viewers.

"It is a privilege to have been selected for the role. I believe good journalism matters now, more than ever before. I'll be focused on leading a team which uncovers and tells more of the stories that matter to New Zealanders, in ways which inspire our audiences," says Wilkinson.

Alistair will take up the role in July.
