Amazon plans Android tablet by October

A couple of intriguing stories out of the US this morning.
Amazon plans Android tablet
One, the Wall Street Journal has revealed that Amazon is planning to release its own tablet computer in October.
It will have a screen around 9-inches (that is, around iPad size) and run on Google's Android software - presumably making it a full-featured tablet, unlike the ebook-specific Kindle.
This doesn't mean the death of the Kindle.
Amazon also has a new Kindle in the works, with a touchscreen as its signature new feature.
Netflix users, you're spoiled
Two, Netflix has caused a furore by raising its monthly fee for unlimited movie streaming (plus one DVD) from $US9.99 to $US15.98.
I know Netflix customers' main grijpe is that the company is being too agressive in pushing them away from DVDs (and, of course, no-one likes a price increase).
But come on US citizens, you're spoiled. Stop complaining.
Come down under and try finding an all-you-eat on-demand movie plan. Or, heck, any online service with a decent selection of new releases.
And, by the way, we have data caps in this part of the world too - so you get to pay for a streaming movie twice.
