In January 2011, Google Android accounted for 31.2% of the US smartphone market, capturing the number 1 spot in the rankings for the first time as the platform climbed from just 7.1% share a year ago. RIM followed with 30.4% to secure the number 2 position, while Apple took the number 3 spot with 24.7% share.
The figures are according to ComScore, which derives its marketshare figures based on which mobile platform people use to access websites it surveys.
