After an initial surge of excitement, the developers behind a proposed dairy factory in the South Waikato village of Arapuni now admit the process is a little slower than anticipated.
Development company Zoagn has applied for resource consent to build a $100 million dairy factory in the small community that would produce instant whole milk powder and infant formula.
Commercial director Richard Stapel said submissions to the company’s resource consent application have closed and a hearing conducted by Environment Waikato is expected to be held in August.
The company hoped to attract about 90 milk supplies within a radius of 50km from Arapuni.
