ASB Bank has landed another naming-rights partnership deal, this time signing up with Wellington’s new indoor community sports facility, to be known as ASB Sports Centre, which opens on Saturday.
Today’s announcement of ASB Bank’s 10-year naming-rights agreement deal with the $47.5 million sport centre was welcomed by Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown with open arms.
“That ASB has come to the party is excellent news for Wellingtonians – ASB’s generous sponsorship will help to keep the centre’s running costs down not only for users but also ratepayers,” says Mayor Wade-Brown.
“ASB will also get to associate itself with one of the most prominent buildings in the region – and one of the most prestigious.”
ASB Bank’s chief community partnership officer, Linley Wood, says ASB’s commitment to support regional and national sporting initiatives is displayed by the bank’s interest to work hand in hand with Wellington’s new indoor sporting facility.
“ASB is committed to making a tangible difference in the communities in which we operate, so being involved with this iconic Wellington sports facility demonstrates our support for both grassroots sports activity and for the people of the region,” says Ms Wood.
Wellington’s new state-of-the-art sport centre will be host to a large variety of community recreational activities, indoor sports and school programmes. The capacity for it to host local, regional and national sports tournaments brings the facility even closer to both the national and international sporting spotlights.
To give an idea of its overall size, the new facility is equivalent in size to 12 full size netball courts along with retractable seating surrounding a show court for up to 2200 spectators, and the biggest area of sprung sports flooring in the entire country. Over 300 off street vehicle parks have been put in place as companion to a large social activity area and conference rooms available for hire by both the community and facility users. A number of sports control rooms, a high performance sports facility and various offices along with its own café will also incorporated into the new facility.
