Two Queensland airports part-owned by Auckland Airport are in the path of Cyclone Yasi, which hit the state overnight.
It’s too early to tell whether Cyclone Yasi will damage Auckland Airport’s bottom line.
Last year Auckland Airport spent $166 million buying a 25% stake in two airports in Cairns and Mackay, which is further south.
The airport in Cairns is most at risk as it is directly in the path of the Category Five storm and also because it is close to the sea, putting it potentially in the path of storm surges.
Auckland Airport could not be immediately reached for comment on the situation in Queensland.
