University of Auckland Business School graduate Antonia Chen has caught Apple’s eye with an app she created winning over judges to be named one of the top iPhone apps of 2011.

Her app, called Pro:Alarm, is an all-in-one alarm clock with intelligent features for iPhones, which made the round-up list of the world’s best apps – Apple’s annual “Rewind of the Year”.

“We released both free and paid versions in the utility category, where there was huge competition from other alarm clock apps, and Apple appreciated our hard work and featured Pro:Alarm on the app store front page across the world,” Chen says.

Chen was precocious, working as a web designer and web developer to earn pocket money while in high school, and subsequently setting up an IT consultancy with her husband in NZ.

Chen is humble about their small-scale beginnings, but excited by the interest taken in their apps.

“When we started Less Code, we had no connection with Apple. We were just a tiny firm hiding in the corner of the world, trying to make top quality apps. Now we have three other ‘built-for-professionals’ apps in development and a few ‘built-for-everyone’ apps in plan.”
