Auckland Monopoly revealed

Maker sidesteps best/worst street debate

Local licensee Winning Moves has unveiled its Auckland Edition of Monopoly ($59.99) - but those waiting to see its verdict on the city's best and worst streets will be disappointed.

Instead of ranking streets or areas, the Auckland Edition has tip-toed around the issue by substituting landmarks.

Where Old Kent Road is the cheapest street in the traditional version of the game, the Waitakere Ranges substitutes in the Auckland version.

And instead of posh streets like Park Lane, players of the Auckland Edition can compete to own the Hilton Hotel or the Sky Tower.

Ironically, one of few street names in the game, Karangahape Rd, is misspelled as. Karanghape Rd.

The Auckland Edition was announced on April 22.

Winning Moves then sought people's suggestions on Facebook ahead of the game's commercial launch today.
