Prime Minister John Key yesterday paid a visit to the set of Bollywood blockbuster Players, and was told that producers were considering having the film’s premiere in New Zealand.
While speaking to New Zealand media, two of the film’s stars, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu, said they were hoping to host the film’s premiere in New Zealand.
“We shot pretty much 50 percent of the film down in New Zealand so we’d love to come down there if not for just promotion then maybe the premiere of the film, let’s see,” Bachchan told New Zealand media.
Mr Key said he had thought the comment was half-joking, but had since been told the option was being considered.
“The movie’s set to come out on December 23, so they said they’re deadly serious about having the premiere in New Zealand, which would be phenomenable.”
Players, a remake of The Italian Job, has been in production for most of the year.
