Senior British foreign service and defence figures visit New Zealand next week.
United Kingdom Foreign Minister William Hague, Defence Secretary Dr Liam Fox and Chief of Defence Staff General Sir David Richard arrive in Auckland next Thursday for a two-day visit.
“New Zealand shares a very close relationship with the United Kingdom and we have strong historical ties,” Foreign Minister Murray McCully said.
The visit includes laying a wreath at the Auckland War Memorial and joint bilateral talks.
“We will be discussing political, economic and security issues where we have common interests,” Mr McCully said.
Announcing the visit, via his YouTube diary blog, Mr Hague said New Zealand was a "dynamic economy" with which the UK needs a strong relationship. The tourists will also spend time in Australia.
