Brownlee shuts down EQC email, all EQC computer systems

After a second email leak, the Earthquake Recovery Minister has taken the drastic step this evening of temporarily shutting off all of the Earthquake Commission's email.
The EQC website is also offline.
Business-to-business data exchange systems have also been shut down.
Even EQC's Twitter account has been silenced.
In Parliament this afternoon, Labour revealed a second major email blunder. It saw details of of around 2200 claims, totalling around $23 million, was wrongly emailed to a member of the public.
Mr Brownlee, who appeared before media with EQC CEO Ian Simpson at his side, said he has also asked government chief information officer Colin MacDonald to investigate and oversee the solutions for issues relating to information management within EQC.
"Mr MacDonald will develop a priority work programme to resolve and manage the issues with EQC's information systems and bring its processes and procedures up to standard," Mr Brownlee said.
"I have asked for this investigation to be completed as quickly as possible to enable a resumption of claims processing and apologise for the delay this will cause. We hope some systems may come back into operation progressively in the days ahead, depending on the depth and extent of the issues found."
