Castle Point Funds Management is delighted to announce the appointment of Amanda Smith, former Head of Equities at ANZ (NZ) Investments, as a director.

Ms Smith's career in financial markets spans several decades. She spent over 14 years at ANZ, where she headed the OnePath equities team that managed $1.5 billion in New Zealand and Australian equities, part of a broader portfolio of more than $8 billion.

Before joining Castle Point, she advised Treasury's Commercial Operations Group (governance and performance) and its predecessor, the Crown Ownership Monitoring Unit.

Her appointment to the Castle Point team is effective immediately.

Castle Point co-founder and partner Richard Stubbs says the team is excited to have attracted someone of Smith's calibre to the business: "Amanda brings deep industry knowledge, knows our organisation well and will be a strong, independent governor of our business and investment process. We all are very much looking forward to working with her."

Ms Smith says she is delighted to join Castle Point, adding: "I was particularly attracted by the high quality of the personnel, clear investment philosophy and focus. This team has proven itself over many years and the long-term approach will be a benefit to our clients, in what might be a particularly volatile period for markets during 2016."
