Auckland businessmen Chris Heilbronn (61) was killed in a motocycle crash on Saturday, the NZ Herald reports.
The accident happened at Omaha, north of Auckland.
Mr Heilbronn's Ducati 999 collided with a turning car around 10am.
The driver and a passenger in the car were not harmed.
Mr Heilbronn was executive director of BDO's NZ operation, which has more than 700 accounting partners and staff.
Previously he was CEO of Kensington Swan, CEO of Land Limited managing a $150 million property portfolio, and a tax consulting partner at Deloitte where he negotiated settlements with IRD worth up to $60 million. His major clients included DB, TVNZ and a number of ad agencies.
Mr Heilbronn emigrated to Auckland in 1982.
Earlier, he operated a stall in Petticoat Lane in the heart of the East End of London with a childhood friend. "We learned more about selling skills in that time than you probably would over a lifetime in other jobs. I paid my way through college and the early hardship years of an underpaid full time job - and kept honest with the tax man at the same time," he wrote on his profile.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette and children David (24) and Kathryn (18).
