Christchurch’s Rugby World Cup Venue, AMI Stadium, has been given the all clear, according to council-owned manager, Vbase.

All four event venues owned and managed by Vbase have been cleared of structural damage.

AMI Stadium and CBS Canterbury Arena have passed the inspection of structural engineersthis week. Christchurch Convention Centre and the Town Hall for Performing Arts were earlier confirmed to be free of any structural damage.

Work on minor repairs and clean-up at AMI Stadium and CBS Canterbury Arena has now begun and the clean-up of the Convention Centre and Town Hall is continuing.

Vbase CEO Bryan Pearson said the work is taking longer than expected but all four venues would be open over the next few days.

The playing surface at AMI Stadium, which will host seven games at Rugby World Cup 2011 was not affected.
