Trade Minister Tim Groser will spend the next few days discussing climate change and trade-related issues in Washington and New York.

Mr Groser said the New Zealand and United States governments were committed to strengthening cooperation, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, and the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations were expected to be a focus of the visit, which will include meetings with US Trade representative Ron Kirk, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Congress members and a coalition of businesses.

Mr Groser will also discuss services trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region as part of the Coalition of Services Industries global services summit while in Washington.

In his capacity as International Climate Change Negotiations Minister, Mr Groser will head to New York to take part in a meeting hosted by Mexico's Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa to prepare for the next major international climate change meeting in Cancun in December.
