Ben Kay joins team as Punakaiki Funds plans path to IPO.

2040 Ventures, the manager of Punakaiki Fund and Climate Venture Capital Fund, is pleased announce the appointment of Ben Kay to the newly created position of chief financial officer.
Kay has extensive capital raising, corporate finance, strategy, investor relations and finance experience. His initial focus will be to accelerate the path to IPO for Punakaiki Fund, which is investigating a public listing in 2023.
As group general manager, strategy and capital markets at SkyCity Entertainment Group, he is currently responsible for investor relations, group strategy, M&A, treasury, and capital structuring.
Kay’s previous experience includes corporate finance, investment banking and advisory roles in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, including with blue chip financial institutions such as Deloitte and Goldman Sachs.
Director and manager Lance Wiggs said 2040 Ventures and Punakaiki Fund were thrilled to have Kay join the team: “It’s time to bring venture capital to a broader range of investors. Kay starts with 2040 Ventures in November and will take on formal CFO duties for Punakaiki Fund as the company moves towards a potential IPO. He will also assist 2040 Ventures portfolio companies with governance, strategy, and M&A activities, and support the Climate Venture Capital Fund.
