Ocean Flyer appoints former Queenstown Airport CEO to board

Ocean Flyer chief executive Shah Aslam has announced the appointment of international transport and infrastructure specialist Colin Keel to the governance board of SO Capital and Ocean Flyer. Aslam expressed enthusiasm about Keel’s addition, citing his extensive experience and global network as valuable assets to the team.

“Colin’s background and profound knowledge across various transport modes, from aviation to rail, will significantly enrich Ocean Flyer,” Aslam said.

“Colin understands the inherent value of regional connectivity, which drives productivity and ultimately leads to a broad range of national and local benefits,” he said.

In reference to the future of sustainable transport in New Zealand, Aslam expressed confidence, stating: “We are embarking on a transformative journey and individuals like Colin will play a pivotal role in facilitating this transition.”

Keel said: “Ocean Flyer represents an incredible opportunity to rethink regional connectivity and sustainable transport for Aotearoa New Zealand.

“This innovative approach brings together leading-edge technology with proven maritime and aviation concepts. I am excited to be joining the team and working with them to make Ocean Flyer a reality.”

Over a long career, Keel has served as an executive, corporate lawyer, business adviser, and company director across New Zealand, Australia, the US, and the UK. His expertise encompasses aviation, rail, infrastructure, energy, and tourism.

Most recently Keel was CEO of Queenstown Airport Corporation and has held senior executive positions at Aurizon, Qantas Airways, and American Airlines. He is currently engaged in various governance and advisory roles in New Zealand and Australia.

A Chartered Member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, Colin holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of the Harvard Leadership Programme.
