The Maori Party is investigating a complaint against MP Hone Harawira.

President Pem Bird said the complaint was laid by Te Ururoa Flavell and was supported by co-leaders Pita Sharples and Tariana Turia, as well as Rahui Katene.

Mr Bird said legal advice was being sought on how to deal with the complaint and that he had asked the Te Tai Tokerau Electorate Council to call an urgent hui for Friday.

Both Mr Harawira and Mr Flavell have been asked to attend the meeting.

The party would not give further details about the complaint. Neither Mr Sharples nor Ms Turia would comment.
