Court hears arguments over future of Saint Heliers houses
An application for an order stopping the demolition of a group of Saint Heliers houses is being heard in the Environment Court.
A hearing is underway in the Environment Court to decide the future of three art deco Saint Heliers houses that are at the centre of a demolition battle.
The Save Our Saint Heliers group is seeking an enforcement order to prevent Ancona Group from demolishing the Turua Street houses.
Save Our Saint Heliers group lawyer David Kirkpatrick has expressed doubt over whether or not the Auckland Council had played its part correctly in the matter and whether or not a complete heritage assessment had been carried out.
Ancona Group lawyer Richard Brabant claimed an appropriate heritage assessment had been done.
The matter continues this afternoon and this story will be updated as new facts emerge.
